COLOR WATCH: NEON!

Have you heard?

Neon is in!  For a color lover, I mean COME ON!  What could be more exciting?  Neon is so in.your.face.  It commands your attention.

From the runway to your home.  Neon is making a splash.

Are you feeling the trend?

Nanette Lepore- Spring 2012

I absolutely love that they chose a neon pink coffee table for this space.  This sitting area is already very eclectic.  For instance, notice the traditional floor lamp to the right paired with the more modern minimalistic yellow lighting fixture hanging from the ceiling on the left.  The neon pink adds a little something special.  Just when you thought this space was intended to just be eclectic it takes it up a notch. BAM!

Remember these neon hotties?

I’m thinking it’s time to get my Spring neon look together.

Oh yeah!

Clear Acrylic Ceiling Fan

A few weeks ago I attempted to change a light bulb  in my ceiling fan and wound up unscrewing the entire thing!  As in hanging on (literally) by a thread…in this case it was a wire.  What a mess.  In my defense, it was tricky to get the cover for the bulb off.  I know, but really.

Long story short it got me thinking about ceiling fan options.  The one I have has a black base and brown blades.  Yep, it doesn’t match a thing or blend in for that matter.   I’m not a huge fan of ceiling fans, but I’m one of those people that need them.  Especially, on my 2nd floor during the blazin’ Summer months.

So, as I was looking for a potential replacement I came across this!

Why had I never thought of a clear acrylic ceiling fan?  Duh!

It basically becomes invisible and doesn’t fight with your decor.

I’m liking this idea…a lot.

Love is patient, love is kind…

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.

The Weekend…

Hey Guys,

I planned on finishing a painting I’ve been working on, but honestly after the tragic news about Whitney Houston on Saturday, I couldn’t pull my eyes away from CNN.  So sad! Like most of you, I grew up singing along to her music.  As a little girl, I loved  “how will I know” among her other hits.  Heart and prayers go out to her family and friends.  What an icon. She will definitely be missed.

Sunday, some friends and I caught the last night of the Rembrandt exhibit “The Face of Jesus” at the DIA.  Really enjoyed it!  I learned a lot about his inspiration, life and Amsterdam during that time period.

This is a pamphlet from the museum.

I wanted to get a Rembrandt memento, but couldn’t find anything with the painting that I liked on it. It was the last night so pickens were slim.  Check out the exhibit if it comes to your city!

Oh, but I did manage to snag these colorful bracelets and ring made in Kenya from the main gift shop.  Ready for Spring!

Super Bowl 2012!

I decided last minute to drive to Indy to check out the Super Bowl 46 festivities!

I mean, how often is the Super Bowl hosted in your home town? (If you’re from Indiana, anyway).  So, my dear friend Starla ventured out with me on a cold and rainy Saturday to see what all the fuss was about.

Very impressed!  Job well done! NAP on the MAP!

Here are some snapshots I was able to manage in between the rain drops…

Downtown Indy

There were tons of food trucks (although I only captured 1) around the Monument Circle.  It was hard to decide which to try!

We chose this one.  Everything on the menu is made from local ingredients.  I had a pulled pork sandwich. Yum!

HUGE attraction on “The Circle”.  We should have tried to climb up and sit on the “L”, but I think that would have been frowned upon.

Super Bowl Village

(where all the festivities were)

The zip line had to be one of the coolest attractions! I wanted to do it, but who are we kidding…I’m a scardy cat when it comes to stuff like that, but my official excuse is that it was “sold out” which sounds much more cool and was the truth.

(Look at the top.  This is where you get strapped in)

This is someone riding upside down! Super brave!

Long cold days require hot chocolate

Even through the rain we had a great time!  From the press, it sounds like we weren’t the only ones.  There were loads of activities all week as you can imagine.  These pics don’t come close to capturing the whole experience.  Too bad we only had a day to enjoy it, but it was enough to feel a part of Indy’s first Super Bowl.  If I was a betting woman I would say we’ll  see another in the future…

and next time lets see those COLTS!

Thanks, Starla for enduring the rain!!
